Mendoza Family Interviews
This collection features oral history interviews with Lydia Mendoza, her siblings, and other people knowledgeable about Mendoza and her career. These interviews were conducted for the book Lydia Mendoza: A Family Autobiography (1993), edited by Chris Strachwitz and James Nicolopulos, who also conducted most of the interviews in this collection. The collection features direct oral testimony from Mendoza and her siblings Andrew, Beatriz, Juanita, Manuel, and María about the family's history in music and showbusiness.
Lydia Mendoza (1916-2007) was a singer-guitarist and one of the most prominent Mexican American recording artists of the twentieth century. Juanita and María Mendoza also gained commercial prominence as Las Hermanas Mendoza.
